Lister is back! The new changes in Lister to bring a bright future ahead

Here at Lister we have faced some big changes over the last year including new faces, new products and a huge change in the way we work due to the recent covid-19 pandemic.

But the one thing that hasn’t changed is our consistent drive to bring new, reliable and innovative products to the market. We are delighted to be stepping into a new shearing season with our new stronger rider combs, Nexus Sensor machine and highly sought-after handpieces. We understand that shearing is both technically challenging and physically demanding therefore it is important that the gear used is reliable and durable to help enhance the shearing performance. Lister’s ongoing commitment and investment to developing robust and efficient shearing technology is at the forefront of our work to enhance the performance for shearers both in the shed and at blue ribbon events across the globe.

We are also starting the equine trimming season with a range of new trimmers from our Parent company, Wahl, which has helped align our trimmer range and make sure we have the best products on the market to suit a variety of equine needs. We are also delighted to introduce the new face of Lister, Alan Davies. Alan is Carl Hester’s, MBE, international travelling groom or better known as a ‘super groom’, travelling the world to the Olympics, World and European Championships. In 2015 he was awarded Team GB Groom of the Year, in 2016 won the Horse & Hound’s Groom of the Year award, was awarded the British Grooms Association Lifetime Achievement Award and the British Equestrian Federation Medal of Honour, the first groom to receive this prestigious award. Alan’s attention to detail, high end finish and medal worthy results are what we aim to achieve with our product range.

Going forward Lister are looking to forge even stronger relationships with the shearing and equine industry and community by enhancing our technical offering and investing in innovative product design and development. Lister wouldn’t be where it is today without its loyal customers and their continuous support as well as our research and development team from around the world, that work to continually improve our offering. Lister don’t just look to produce market leading products but also strive to bring equine and shearing communities/networks together to help educate and introduce best working practises across the globe to ensure safety for both the user and the animal.

In our mission to constantly improve and grow as a company we have welcomed some positive changes within the Lister team over the last year including the appointment of Sebastian Goodison as Managing Director. With full responsibility for the leadership and development of Lister Shearing Equipment Ltd, Sebastian will play a key role in meeting the company’s goals in becoming the world’s most recognised, trusted and renowned manufacturer of large animal clipping and shearing products.

For more than thirty (30) years Sebastian has been developing his career in manufacturing. On leaving the education system Sebastian was naturally drawn to Engineering and Manufacturing due to his interest in how things worked and how he could improve them. Sebastian joined Lister after a successful career with a large global technology company where he was employed as Vice President and General Manager for (6) technology businesses.

Prior to this Sebastian has considerable experience working in a variety of industries including, Oil & Gas, Automotive, and Defence. Working in Senior Management and Executive positions in a diverse range of environments and cultures has given him the opportunity to enhance his skillset through practical experience and extensive executive training.

With an impressive track record of managing and restructuring businesses to excel, Sebastian has the ideal skillset needed to drive the Lister business and product line to the next level of achievement.

Sebastian Goodison added “Living in the area where Lister began the business for over fifty (50) years means I have a good understanding of what the Lister name represents to the local area. The innovation and technical excellence that took Lister to the top has always been based on providing quality solutions to real challenges in the shearing and clipping community. I feel proud and honoured to be given stewardship of this business and can’t wait to continue the development of the business whilst maintaining the core values that make Lister recognised globally”

We are also pleased to welcome Martin Booth into his new role at Lister as the Head of Sales and Commercial with a remit to re-focus and expand sales of the Lister products worldwide.

Martin has a well-established background in Sales and Marketing, spanning a range of products and services over the last 20+ years. Prior to joining Lister, Martin worked as a Sales Director in Design and Technology, supplying equipment to educational sector establishments around the world.

Martin’s career path has provided him with some invaluable skills which will contribute to the continual success of Lister. His background has provided him with a comprehensive understanding of selling via distributors and significant exposure to e-commerce. He is skilled in developing and driving sales strategy, managing P&L accounts, analysing trends and creatively identifying new business and market opportunities. Martin is commercially focused and accustomed to building sustainable, long-term customer relationships, to ensure effective outcomes.

Martin Booth added “When I first met Sebastian and he explained the size of the challenge and opportunity I was eager to get involved in the Lister project.

Coming from the area in which Lister was developed and having had friends and family contributing to the Lister brand over many years, I am excited and honoured to join the Lister Team.

From 1909 and the years that followed, Lister’s success can primarily be attributed to the passion to deliver quality British made products. Sebastian has been instrumental in putting this passion back in to Lister and the products we supply today carry the same passion and team dedication that Lister stood for all those years ago.

One of our stockists recently commented that “Lister is back”, we are getting there and will continue to drive for improvements in our products quality and safety.

Exciting times ahead for Team Lister.”

We look forward to the seeing the future of Lister grow through new products, the passion of the shearing community and the expansion of the Lister family.
