Lister, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of clipping and shearing equipment, announces sponsorship of the Ask the Groom feature at this year’s Royal Three Counties Show.
Lister has been designing and manufacturing its products in Gloucestershire for more than 100 years. It has a longstanding history with the show, having been supporting the shearing competition for more than 50 years.
Having been cancelled for the last two years due to the COVID pandemic, Royal Three Counties is set to return with a bang this year.
The Ask the Groom feature will include guest talks from a wide range of equine industries, sessions on practical horsemanship, the Mounted Police, as well as live clipping demonstrations featuring creative clipping.
There are over 2,700 horse entries at the show in 260 classes across seven arenas over the three days. Always a prestigious event in the equine calendar, Royal Three Counties Show hosts 51 HOYS qualifiers. The many disciplines on show, include in hand, heavy horses, show jumping, scurry driving and carriage driving, offer something for equine experts and interested amateurs alike.
The jam-packed event will also feature the much-anticipated return of the shearing competition. With the World Championship set to take place at the Royal Highland Show in 2023, Royal Three Counties Show will be one of the deciding events for the English team. Across the season, shearers will compete at selected events to build up points, those with the highest points will be chosen to represent England at the World Championship. The 2022 Royal Three Counties Show is expected to see competitors from all over the world.
Hefin Rowlands, UK Sales Territory Manager at Lister said: “With Royal Three Counties Show being so close to Lister’s factory in Gloucester, it is an event that is very much close to our hearts. We are looking forward to supporting the shearing event alongside Ask The Groom.
Education plays an important part in what we do and having the opportunity to bring live clipping to the show, will be not just insightful for those starting out but also for those with many years of clipping experience behind them. We will be demonstrating not just how to clip but will also turn a horse into art display with our creative clipping demonstration, as well as demonstrating managing health conditions such as Cushing’s Disease.
As for the shearing, having supported the event ever since it began, it is great to see it return in such an important year ahead of the World Championship. The event will certainly bring thrills and excitement to the show.”
Alice Arnold, Royal Three Counties Show Lead added: “We are delighted to have Lister as a supporter again this year as they have played a vital role in the show’s history.
This year, the event will return bigger and better, as we celebrate 100 years of the three counties of Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. With over 150 different events and activities taking place, this is set to be a fun-filled three days for the entire family.”
Advance tickets for the Royal Three Counties Show are available now. The event will take place from Friday 17 to Sunday 19 June 2022 in Malvern.
