Your Guide to Blades

Unfortunately, we cannot offer one blade that will cut everything to everyone’s liking, so it’s important to match the blade type to application based on the finish you desire.

‘A Series’ Blades

A2SS/AC (Super Surgical) Blade
Designed to leave almost no hair on the animal.

  • 75mm wide, 35 teeth
  • Leaves 0.5mm of hair

A2S/AC (Surgical) Blade
Clips very close to the skin and is ideal for surgical preparation.

  • 75mm wide, 35 teeth
  • Leaves 1.0mm of hair

A2C/AC (Close) Blade
Ideal for a close cut, allowing more time for hair to grow in between clips.

  • 75mm wide, 35 teeth
  • Leaves 1.2mm of hair

A2F/AC (Fine) Blade
Ideal for clipping horses closely, clipping the head and stomachs of cattle and slick shearing sheep.

  • 75mm wide, 35 teeth
  • Leaves 1.4mm of hair

A2/AC (Medium) Blade
Ideal for general grooming, leaving more hair on the animal.
Good for lighter haired animals to hide the pink skin.

  • 75mm wide, 35 teeth
  • Leave 2.5mm of hair

CA2 (Coarse) Blade
Ideal for clipping dirty, muddy animals.

  • 75mm wide, 18 teeth
  • Leaves 2.5mm of hair

Covercote Blade
Ideal for clipping areas on the animal that need extra protection such as the legs, as the blade leaves a longer coat where necessary. The Covercote blade is a popular choice for horses transitioning between the seasons as it cuts off the excess length but still maintains the appearance of a smart coat.
This blade is also recommended for horses with Cushing’s disease as it allows the long hair to be clipped but means the remaining hair can be brushed over to protect the skin, giving a ‘fine’ look finish.

  • 75mm wide, 24 teeth
  • Leaves 5.0mm of hair

A2H/AC (Lifter) Blade 13mm or 19mm
Ideal for when a coat needs tidying but a good covering of hair is required.
The blade fits to all other ‘A series’ blades.

  • 75mm wide, 35 teeth
  • Leaves either 13mm or 19mm of hair

Wizard Blade
Designed to allow shearing duties to be achieved using a clipper, the Lister Wizard blade series has been engineered with durability in mind, making them ideally suited to medium to heavy duty applications.
