The Different Lister Shearing Machines and Grinders
Investing in the correct shearing machine is essential for the work to be done, meaning the purchase should be seen as a long-term investment.
The machine motor unit is the driving force behind a good days shearing, whether this is large flock or a few sheep in the paddock. The machine motor unit can be a suspended unit for large flocks or a motor in handpiece (FusionShear) for the smaller flocks.
The suspended motor machines (Nexus and Nova) have an electric motor that transfers the power to the handpiece through either a solid or flexible drive. With the suspended unit, the motor is protected within a tough casing to prevent damage to the electric motor, which can be powered by either the mains or a suitable generator, or a battery (12- 240 volts). The motor is designed for optimum performance under tough conditions and offers a low starting current to assist when using a generator. Power from the motor to the handpiece is via a rotational inner core through either the solid or flexible drive.
The solid drive is designed to clip onto the Nexus machine and for all day shearing, the machine and solid drive will ensure the shearer is working in the correct position.
The flexible drive also contains an inner core rotating within an outer sheath, this is ideal for those with many sheep to clean up.
The handpiece connects to the end of the drive by either a spline (worm) or pin fitting, the handpiece is crucial for a clean shear and the long-term care of this is paramount.
The comb (fixed) and cutter (moving) are the means of shearing the fleece. The cutter passes over the comb at speeds in excess of 2800 rpm, this action will cleanly cut the fleece. The use of clean sharp combs and cutters is very important. Those with smaller flocks and use a motor in handpiece (Fusion Shear), have the motor power connected directly to the shearing head with the comb and cutter. This type of machine is ideal for those smaller flocks and will operate from the mains or a 240-volt generator
The Nexus Elite Sensor was expertly engineered to ensure power and user safety. It features a powerful 700W motor and an electronic current sensor that protects the user and avoids handpiece lock-ups, automatically stopping the machine if the handpiece hits an obstruction in the wool.
Boasting 3 optional drive speeds, the Nexus Elite Sensor gives you the drive you need to cut through any type of wool, running at a high speed of 3500rpm for fast, efficient shearing and a low speed of 2800rpm for dagging and crutching.
Robust and portable, the Nexus Elite Sensor is ideal for both agricultural use and professional shearing.
Only available in Australia and New Zealand.
Nexus Sensor
The new Nexus Sensor was engineered to ensure power and user safety. It’s new built in electronic current sensor, protects the user and prevents handpiece lock-ups by automatically stopping the machine if the handpiece hits an obstruction in the wool. The Nexus Sensor is also fitted with the latest Quick Release technology, allowing for rapid drive attachment or release from the unit. Lightweight yet reliable, the Nexus Sensor is ideal for both agricultural use and professional shearing.
The Nexus QR boasts the latest Quick Release technology, allowing for rapid drive attachment or release from the unit. Lightweight yet reliable, the Nexus QR is ideal for both agricultural use and professional shearing
The single-speed, double-insulated Lister Nova lets you shear safely and with absolute confidence. The ultra-low starting current makes the Nova ideal for use with either mains electricity or portable generators, and it features a lightweight, durable casing.
